The unitized glass curtain wall refers to the building curtain wall that is directly installed on the main structure by various curtain wall panels and supporting frames in a complete curtain wall structure basic unit.
The unitized glass curtain wall refers to the building curtain wall that is directly installed on the main structure by various curtain wall panels and supporting frames in a complete curtain wall structure basic unit.
The glass curtain wall refers to the building peripheral protection structure or decorative structure which can be displaced by the supporting structure system relative to the main structure and does not share the main structure. The wall has a single layer and double glazing. The glass curtain wall is a beautiful and novel method of building wall decoration, which is a prominent feature of the era of modernist high-rise buildings.
Structural features of unit glass curtain wall:
First, the units that make up the glass curtain wall (frame material, glass, thermal insulation material) are assembled into a whole frame in a specialized factory, and then transported to the construction site. On the construction site, only one curtain wall unit needs to be installed and fixed on the main structure of the building in sequence.
Because the columns are connected, their specifications should be consistent with the storey height and column spacing. When connecting with floors or beams, the height of the curtain wall should be equivalent to the storey height or a multiple of the storey height; when connecting with columns, the width of the curtain wall should be equal to the column spacing.
The installation on the construction site is simple and fast, and the construction period of the project is shortened. The disadvantages are: inconvenient transportation and storage, high lifting requirements on the construction site, easy to cause damage, large consumption of unilateral materials, and high cost.

HOW TO CHOOSE FROM STICK and UNITIZED CURTAINWALL SYSTEMS | ||
Selection Criteria | Stick Curtain wall | Unitized Curtain wall |
Project Size | Small | Large |
Wall Configuration | Complex | Repetitive
(Large expanses of flat wall) |
Joint Pattern | Random | Uniform horizontal sill line |
Glazing | Field | Factory |
Inter-story Movements | Very limited | Inter-locking frames accommodate movements |
Quality Control | Subject to site variables
(Both environment and equipment) |
Controlled factory conditions |
Modification | Can be cut-to-fit in the field | Pr-engineered |
Sealing | Subject to site variables | Minimal field sealing |
Field Labor Cost | High
(Many parts to track and assemble) |
Low |
Field Labor Duration | Slow | Fast
(Often setting 75 sqft or more per unit) |
Access and Safety | Exterior access required | Set from the interior
(Exterior optional) |
